Apple might replace Google Maps with their own product
Apple had acquired Placebase earlier this year.
The company has not announced any new product or service as part of their acquisition.
However, the interesting point here is that Placebase provides service which is very similar to Google Maps.
PlaceBase’s founder and CEO, Jaron Waldman is now listed as a member of the Geo Team at Apple!
This means that Apple has been working on their own Maps service that could become part of the iPhone and Mac OS X in the future.
Looks like Apple is working hard on removing any dependency on Google for their own products and services.
Google provides the default Map application on the iPhone right now.
