Genesis: Symantec developing an all-in-one suite

Symantec is one of the most popular developers of security applications for the PC platform. However, the company now faces serious challenge from the software giants Microsoft who are themselves planning to enter the security application software and services market in the coming months.

While Microsoft is working on their Windows OneCare Live beta and Windows Live Safety Center beta services, Symantec has announced plans of their own. They are now reportedly working on an all in one security pack containing anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall, and a host of other PC optimization technologies.

They are also aiming at launching a standalone transaction security product developed using technologies they acquired from anti-phishing vendor WholeSecurity last year. In addition, Genesis would also be launched which is a subscription-based downloadable web service.

Symantec says that these new launches would bring it to the Security 2.0 atmosphere, which they are basing on the popular Web 2.0 concept of next generation of web technologies.
