Microsoft’s free anti-virus is finally out
Microsoft has finally launched their free anti-virus product named Microsoft Security Essentials.
This product had been in beta testing for several months now.
The company is providing this application as a free download for users on Windows XP, Windows Vista and of course Windows 7.
This means that millions of Windows users around the world would now have an option to not pay for a security product and use this free alternative.
Microsoft Security Essentials is not the only free product in the pretty competitive security software market… AVG and Avast along with several other players have similar solutions.
The company said in a statement: “With Microsoft Security Essentials, consumers can get high-quality protection that is easy to get and easy to use, and it won’t get in their way. Consumers have told us that they want the protection of real-time security software but we know that too many are either unwilling or unable to pay for it, and so end up unprotected.”
