CNN starts charging for their Apple iPhone news app!
CNN has become the latest news media giant to discard the free model when it comes to mobile access to their news content.
The company is updating their mobile app for the Apple iPhone smartphones.
This new edition comes with a price tag. Users would be required to pay USD 1.99 for the update.
CNN said that they believe that the users would pay for this app because it is much better than the free offerings.
One of the cool aspects of this app is that it enables the users to act as citizen journalists. The app features support for iReport enabling users to submit their own photos and videos to the news company.
AP is another news media organization which has tried charging for their mobile app in the past. The sales were pretty low. The free edition is much more popular now.
