Mozilla Thunderbird 3 Beta 4

Mozilla Messaging developers recently launched the latest beta of Thunderbird 3 Beta 4.

This is a pretty major update and is a must have for anyone running previous beta of Thunderbird 3.

Mozilla developers however warns that this edition should not be used on production machines.

Thunderbird 3 Beta 4 is based on the Gecko 1.9.1.3 platform.

This latest edition features more than 200 updates to the application. Some of the highlights are:

Improved Searching
Automatic account setting for popular services (Gmail IMAP works great!)
Redesigned Mail Toolbar
Tabbed Email Messages
Smart Folders
Message Summary View
Improved Column Headings
and so on!

Great news for Google Gmail users:

Better recognition and integration of Gmail’s special folders such as Sent and Trash including non-English versions of Gmail. Thunderbird also uses All Mail as the Archives folder.

Good news for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users:

For Windows Vista users, Thunderbird 3 is now integrated with Vista search results. On first start, Thunderbird will prompt to install its indexing system into Windows Vista and you can choose to see Thunderbird email and news messages in Windows search results.
