WhoGlue sues Facebook for patent violation
WhoGlue has launched a lawsuit against Facebook for patent infringement.
The company claims that Facebook is in violation of a patent they own related to social networking communications.
This lawsuit has been filed in the Delaware federal court.
WhoGlue CEO Jason Hardebeck recently wrote in a blog post about this patent:
“Recently, the big social networking sites have begun to realize that it’s not just about making it easy to share information … it’s also about making it easy to control access to that information. We figured that out a long time ago; as a matter of fact, we filed for a patent called ‘Distributed personal relationship information management system and methods’ (remember, this was before ’social networking’ came into vogue) way back in 2001.”
Looks like this company has issues with the privacy controls offered by Facebook to their users.
They are asking the courts to stop Facebook from infringing their patent. They have a strong case considering they have owned this patent since July 2007.
