Google Picasa 3.5 launched with face recognition technology
Google has launched a new edition of their photo management application Picasa.
Picasa 3.5 is now available as a free download for Windows and Mac platforms.
This new version now enables the user to tag people in photos.
This is connected with a face recognition technology that is already available on the Picasa Web Albums.
This is similar to the feature Apple introduced in their iPhone application recently.
Google said that Picasa would make a separate section for all those photos which it won’t recognize.

The company has also integrated Google Maps functionality in Picasa. This would allow for easy geotagging of the photos. Google has also totally revamped the import process to make it easy for users to transfer photos from a camera to Picasa Web Albums.
We played around with it and it works really well. We can safely say that it matches the accuracy of Apple iPhoto. And it’s free! And it’s available on both Windows and Mac. And could soon appear for Linux as well. This is pretty incredible work from Google.
