Microsoft Releases Microsoft IE7 Beta 2 Public Preview

Software giants Microsoft have surprisingly launched a public preview of their upcoming Internet Explorer update. Unlike the previous beta, this is available for anyone who is running the latest and legal version of their operating systems.

It looks like the aim is to please the current users of Internet Explorers who are being lured away by alternative offerings like Mozilla Firefox and Opera Browser. This also brings the first change in this vintage browser version is almost 5 years.

The latest beta adds on a search box, enhanced the browser’s security. In addition, it also bring tabbed browser to the Internet Explorer, which has become a popular feature amongst web users making it easier for them to manage all the open web pages.

The company is looking for public feedback on the bugs and issues in this version, which would be included in the upcoming Vista operating system release. Microsoft is also due to launch the Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP users.

Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 also brings in RSS support to the browser, which is another of the big things on the web right now. The user interface has been changed to make it look more sleek and user friendly. Overall a product worth trying out.

Its hard to believe that IE would want to get “better”; while the current version would be outdated long before its released!
IE sucks sucks all along the way.

“It looks like the aim is to please the current users of Internet Explorers who are being lured away by alternative offerings like Mozilla Firefox and Opera Browser.”

I get the lured away by Firefox bit, seeing as how IE’s share has dropped proportional to Firefox’s gains, but do you really think that Opera has lured away enough IE users that Microsoft has any plans to target that set of users? None of the stats I’ve seen suggest that Opera’s even above 1% marketshare worldwide. Microsoft wasn’t coming out with a new browser to lure back the 1-2% that Mozilla had a few years ago.

wow. Asa actually commented on my blog! well i am one of the users who actually left internet explorer to start using opera. and yes, i had tried phoenix which was available then. and i still have firefox on my machine. but opera continues to remain my primary web browser. :) and i know many users who actually use opera as their primary browser… maybe not a majority… but for me, yes a lot of people have moved from IE to Opera!

thanks for posting your comment though!
