Nokia Beta Labs launches Nokia Braille Reader

Nokia is the world’s largest mobile phone maker and they have a software lab which creates new exciting technologies for the mobile world.

One of the new products from this lab is named Nokia Braille Reader.

It is designed to let blind and visually impaired mobile users get the ability to ‘read’ their SMS messages.

This application uses Braille and tactile feedback for its functionality.

Nokia Braille Reader has been developed in a joint project between Nokia, Tampere University and the Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired.

It currently works on a couple of Nokia devices like:

Nokia N97, 5800 XpressMusic, N97 mini, 5530, 5230 and X6. It is also compatible with devices powered by S60 5th Edition.
