Microsoft showcases Office Web Apps
Microsoft has finally showcased the first edition of their Office Web Apps.
These web apps would allow users to edit Office documents from inside a web browser.
The current version is essentially a technology preview as they are working on adding more features and fixing the bugs.
The company aims to provide a beta edition later this year to thousands of users.
Microsoft said that these web based editions do not use proprietary technologies like Flash or Silverlight.
It does however require a modern web browser. They are officially supporting Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer 7, and Safari 4.
