Windows Vista: The focus is on quality
Microsoft has already delayed Windows Vista for quite sometime and is now planning for a launch sometime later this year. However, the issue is that the company had to compromise on a lot of issues like dropping a couple of features, which were originally planned for this update of Windows operating system.
They have also reaffirmed that the company is focusing on delivering a quality product and would not rush out a buggy product. Microsoft recently announced that they have integrated all the features in the development stage version of Vista and are now working hard on smoothening things out.
This means that the upcoming test releases might be pretty close in regards to feature set to the final version, which would be out later this year. However, Windows development leader Jim Allchin has said that if they think that the product is not ready for release even by the end of the year, they would delay it rather than shipping an incomplete version just to get it out there.
Allchin said in a statement: “Where we sit today, things are going according to plan, and we’re feeling very good. But I always like to preface that as I did with Windows 2000, Windows XP: quality is the thing that will dictate if we’re ready to go. So if we have any problems in quality, I’ll slip this product. It’s the thing that is at the top of my mind.”
Allchin is also due to retire when this latest version of the operating system ships out from the company. And he has clarified that he would also delay that decision if the situation demands it. Delivering a quality product is the main priority and they are pretty clear about it.
