Twitter updated terms includes advertising possibilities
Micro-blogging service Twitter has updated their terms of service.
One of the major updates is the addition of a clause which enables them to put advertising on the website.
The company said: “We leave the door open for advertising. We’d like to keep our options open, as we’ve said before.”
Market analysts have long been predicting that Twitter is going to incorporate some form of advertising on the service to generate revenues.
The service currently has no apparent mode of revenue generation.
Twitter founder Biz Stone however said that they are going to be very careful with ad placements (if and when they are added) so as not to annoy the faithful users.
Stone also clarified in the blog post that tweets are owned by the person who tweeted them though they reserve the right to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute them.
