Open Invention Network aims to protect Linux from Microsoft

A couple of companies are collaborating together to make sure Linux is protected from the software giant Microsoft.

Open Invention Network consists of several Microsoft rival companies. They are now working on an arrangement to acquire patents that were sold by Microsoft in the recent times.

Some of these patents are crucial to ensure the sanctity of Linux operating system.

Allied Security Trust currently owns these patents. This group has been established to acquire patents that can be used by patent troll companies from hurting its member companies.

Microsoft has been stated as claiming that around 200 of their more than 50,000 patents are somehow connected to possible violations by the Linux platform.
