Windows Defender Beta 2 coming up

Software giants Microsoft recently decided to enter the lucrative market of developing security applications for the Windows platform. The company acquired a couple of companies and launched the first beta of Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta.

A couple of months ago, the company announced that they were planning to expand the scope of AntiSpyware application and it would now be called Windows Defender. The latest news in on this topic is that online chats with company officials have confirmed that the second beta of Windows Defender application would soon be available for testing.

The company has now fixed the application to support more than just the Windows XP operating system. Windows Defender Beta 2 will be available for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista. Microsoft also has plans to include it with both the client and server versions of Vista due to be launched later this year.

Windows Defender Beta 2 would feature integration with MS Outlook and would scan incoming and outgoing mails for harmful attachments. The UI has been totally overhauled to make it more user friendly and the application would support automatic engine updates from the internet. This application is expected to be made available for free to the owners of validated copies of Windows Operating System.
