iStat had to remove a feature on Apple’s request
Bjango has a mobile application named iStat for the Apple iPhone.
One of the cool features of this app was that it enabled the user to free up inactive memory on the device helping with the battery life.
This feature however is gone now.
The developers said in a message on the website that the feature was removed on Apple’s request.
The message on their website stated:
iStat’s Free Memory function was removed at Apple’s request.
This decision was completely out of our hands. Please note that all other apps with Free Memory appear to have been removed or updated without their Free Memory function too.
They might have named it request, but it is pretty clear that the app would have disappeared from the Apple App Store if the request was not implemented.
This latest Apple App Store fiasco further proves that the company is acting very oddly when it comes to app functionality on their iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
Apple has incidentally approved Spotify which has now become a major exception. Spotify is an Apple iTunes rival and general perception was that the iPhone edition of this app would be rejected by the company.
