Chromium now has 64bit edition for Linux
Chromium is the foundation of the Google Chrome web browser. And it is becoming more accepted in the Linux world.
Chromium developers are now providing 64bit edition of their browser for the Linux platform.
In fact, daily builds are now available for the users on Ubuntu distribution.
Google software engineer Dean McNamee wrote about these versions: “The v8 team did some amazing work this quarter building a working 64-bit port. After a handful of changes on the Chromium side, I’ve had Chromium Linux building on 64-bit for the last few weeks. I believe mmoss or tony is going to get a buildbot running, and working on packaging.”
Google Chrome is already pretty popular on the Windows platform. The Mac version is also becoming highly usable. Linux version would give it many more users.
