KDE to become default desktop environment on OpenSUSE

OpenSUSE Linux distribution developers have said that they have decided to make KDE their default choice for the desktop environment over Gnome.

This is more of a formality considering OpenSUSE users have generally preferred KDE as their desktop.

Incidentally, SUSE’s parent company Novell ships the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop with Gnome as the default desktop environment.

The developers of OpenSUSE platform said that as per their surveys around 68 percent of OpenSUSE users favour KDE and only 27 percent use GNOME.

Gnome users do not have any reasons to worry though. The installer would carry both KDE and Gnome and they would be free to pick any of these as their defaults.
