Intel acquires RapidMind
US based microprocessor industry giant Intel has announced that they are now acquiring RapidMind which specializes in developing software that exploits the power of multi-core processors.
Intel said that they are now going to integrate their technologies into their own products and offerings.
Intel did not reveal the financial aspects of this deal. The company however added that they would retain most of the workforce of the company.
Intel added: “We will retain most, if not all, of their employees. These guys are highly respected experts in data parallel programming.”
The company further said in a blog post: “RapidMind proved itself to be an innovative company with advanced technology for helping software developers with data parallel programming for multicore processors and accelerators. Their joining Intel will let us do even greater things together.”
