AT&T: No role in rejection of Google Voice for Apple iPhone

When Google Voice was reportedly rejected from appearing on the Apple App Store as a mobile application, most analysts believed that AT&T was the reason behind it.

AT&T has now claimed that they had nothing to with the rejection as Apple remains the primary decision maker.

Jim Cicconi, AT&T senior executive vice president for external and legislative affairs spoke about the whole issue: “Let me state unequivocally, AT&T had no role in any decision by Apple to not accept the Google Voice application for inclusion in the Apple App Store. AT&T was not asked about the matter by Apple at any time, nor did it offer any view one way or the other.”

Apple had also given its own reasons for the rejection of Google Voice app for the Apple iPhone. The company primarily had issues with Google Voice’s functionalities which replaced the iPhones’s own feature set.
