Moonlight 2.0 beta 1 released
It has been a long wait but the first beta of Moonlight 2.0 is finally out.
Moonlight is the implementation of Microsoft Silverlight technology for the Linux platform.
Moonlight 2.0 is aimed to bring Silverlight 2 technology support to Linux.
Incidentally, Microsoft has already released a couple of versions of Silverlight 3 for Windows and Mac OS X.
The developers said in a blog post:
Today we’re releasing a beta of Moonlight 2.0. The most important new feature of Silverlight 2 (and therefore Moonlight 2.0) is the bundling of an embedded CLR in the plugin. This is coupled with a managed API to a superset of the functionality that was originally exposed in the JavaScript binding, and includes new features such as support for custom splashscreens, a open source control toolkit, seadragon-style deep zoom, adaptive streaming support, and all the usual .net bells and whistles (e.g. databinding).
