Latest Paint.NET 3.5 alpha release comes with support for DirectWrite
DirectWrite is one of the new technologies being introduced in Windows 7 by Microsoft.
Paint.Net developers have announced that they are now using this instead of GDI for managing text if the user is on Windows 7 operating system.
DirectWrite is essentially the new font and text rendering system that is used in Windows 7.
The developers notified the benefits in a blog post:
Faster text rendering
Better quality text rendering
