UberTwitter gets ad-free till a paid version appears

UberTwitter is a popular Twitter client on the Blackberry smartphone platform.

A recent update to this application added ads to the free application.

This resulted in a major controversy in the Twitter world as hundreds of users complained about this unwanted ‘feature’ addition.

The problem was that the users were offered the new version as an update. A lot of users updated to the ad supported version without realizing what was in store for them.

The mass scale criticism has worked now. The developers of the application have removed the ads from the free version for now.

They would soon offer a paid version that would be completely free of ads. Users of the free version would have to get used to the ads.

UberTwitter said: “We have been listening and have heard you loud and clear! We will not turn advertisements on again until we can offer a paid option with no advertisements. The paid version will be less than $5 and will likely be a yearlong subscription model, i.e. all upgrades for a year. If you purchase during the beta period, the year won’t start until we release version 1.0. Thank you for your patience and your feedback!”
