Microsoft knew about i4i technologies before Word 11 was launched

Microsoft recently lost a lawsuit filed by Canadian company i4i which has now made things difficult for them.

Microsoft has been told to stop the sales of Microsoft Word application in the US market within the next 60 days.

The company is going to appeal the ruling though it is more likely that they would settle the matter out of courts.

Microsoft has also been told to pay a hefty fine of more than $240 million in damages, plus additional penalties totalling over $40 million to i4i.

Market sources are now pointing out to critical evidence which might have hurt Microsoft in the case.

An undated email was released which was from a Microsoft employee Martin Sawicki to another one. The email said: “We saw [i4i's products] some time ago and met its creators. Word 11 will make it obsolete. It looks great for XP though.”

This email apparently proved that Microsoft knew of i4i products and technologies before they replicated them in their own products.
