Pear Analytics: Most Twitter updates are just Pointless Babble

Pear Analytics has published a whitepaper on their research on Twitter updates made by users around the world.

The research team from the company took a random sample of 2000 tweets over a two week period.

They categorized the updates into six different categories: News, Spam, Self-Promotion, Pointless Babble, Conversational and Pass-Along Value.

Results were not shocking.

Largest number of tweets ended up in the Pointless Babble category (40.55%)
Thankfully conversational tweets came in at second spot (37.55%)
