Microsoft Office to come to Nokia mobile devices
Microsoft and Nokia have announced a collaborative deal which would see Microsoft providing their mobile Office suite for Nokia mobile devices.
Nokia has sold millions of smartphones powered by Symbian platform and Microsoft aims to provide their office productivity solutions to these users.
Microsoft would initially provide their solutions for the Nokia E-Series smartphones.
Some of the services that would be released for Nokia smartphones:
Mobile versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft OneNote
Support for Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile
Support for Microsoft SharePoint Server
Support for Microsoft System Center
Microsoft probably has realized that they cannot dominate the mobile market with their Windows Mobile platform.
Google Android and Apple iPhone are already becoming serious threats. Collaborating with Nokia would give them more customers from this market.
