Yahoo to discontinue Term Extraction and Contextual Web Search services
Yahoo Developer Network has announced that they are going to close two of their services:
Term Extraction
Contextual Web Search
These services would no longer be available after the end of the current month.
A message on the Yahoo Group stated:
We now have an official closure date of August 31, 2009 for the Term
Extraction[1] and Contextual Web Search[2] services. Internally, both services
share a backend data source that is closing down, so the publicly-facing YDN
services will be closing as well.

In case folks are interested in alternatives, you might want to take a look at our API, the Evri API at http://api.evri.com — given text or HTML, we identify the key entities (people, places and things) within the text. For each entity found, we give you easy access to structured factual information (e.g. birth date, death date, band members, population, etc.) as well as media recommendations (i.e. recommended articles, images, video) based on the submitted text, an entity, or a pair of entities found within the text.
