Orkut latest to drop support for Internet Explorer 6

Google owned social networking portal Orkut is becoming the latest online service to drop support for Internet Explorer 6.

Google has already hinted that YouTube would soon stop supporting IE6 as a web browser.

Any user visiting Orkut now with IE6 is being advised to move to a better alternative.

Alternatives suggested by Google include Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. No love for Apple Safari or Opera Browser.

Moving away from Internet Explorer 6 could be a problem for users in corporate environment where it remains the standard.

I guess, Orkut is not really intended for use in offices so it is not going to become a problem for most users stuck on IE6.
