Attack on Twitter and Facebook was aimed at a single individual?

It is becoming clear now that the attack which took down both Twitter and Facebook networks was aimed at a single individual named Cyxymu who had accounts on both of these services.

The individual is a blogger from the former Soviet republic of Georgia. But the damage caused problems for millions of users worldwide.

The attack slowed down Facebook massively. Twitter continues to face reliability problems. It went down for a couple of hours on the day of attack.

It is still not clear who was behind the attack. Though it is said that the attack was part of the conflicts between Russia and Georgia.

Experts believe that Twitter has been hurt more by these attacks as it is served by a single service provider. Facebook has managed to handle the overload more efficiently.
