Microsoft Azure data center to move out of Washington
Microsoft has revealed that they would be moving the data center managing their Windows Azure services out of Washington.
This is largely due to tax reasons as the state has refused to change the structure of the law to favour Microsoft.
Microsoft spoke about this decision in a blog posting: “Due to a change in local tax laws, we’ve decided to migrate Windows Azure applications out of our Northwest data center prior to our commercial launch this November.”
Windows Azure Platform is a cloud computer powered edition of Windows. The Azure powered services are expected to be launched later this year.
Microsoft is aiming to take on Amazon Web Services with this new service range.
