Facebook and Twitter faced DDOS attacks

Both Facebook and Twitter users faced massive problems today as both the services remained unreliable for a couple of hours.

Twitter in fact went down big time while Facebook managed to handle the overload somewhat better.

Both Twitter and Facebook are back online at the moment.

Facebook had this to say on the new developments:

‘Earlier this morning, Facebook encountered network issues related to an apparent distributed denial of service attack that resulted in degraded service for some users. No user data was at risk and we have restored full access to the site for most users. We’re continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that users have the fast and reliable experience they’ve come to expect from Facebook.’

Both the services are looking into this latest round of distributed denial of service attack.
