Oracle releases mega patches for their products
Software giants Oracle have released a bunch of mega patches for their various applications available in the retail market. As per news sources, the company has patches for as many as 82 flaws existing in current versions. This is the first patch release in nearly three months with the last patch release coming in October 2005.
These patches are for flaws in applications like Oracle Database Server versions 8.x, 9i, and 10g, multiple versions of Oracle Application Server, Oracle E-Business Suite 11i, and Oracle Collaboration Suite. In addition, the company has also released patches for J.D. Edwards Enterprise 8.x and PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 8.x.
Oracle announced some time back that they would be issuing patch releases for their applications on a quarterly basis. This is a similar approach taken by Microsoft who issues monthly patches on second Tuesday of the month. This helps the system administrators to be prepared for testing and implementing the patches on their machines in the corporations.
