Microsoft releases free migration tools for Lotus Notes users
Software giants Microsoft are going offensive against Lotus Notes, as they have just released a set of free migration tools to help users move to their Exchange collaboration system. These tools would help system administrators to analyze their Notes or Domino application environments and convert them to Microsoft’s solutions for similar applications.
These tools would be released for public user soon and consists of three applications. These are Microsoft Application Analyzer 2006 for Lotus Domino, Microsoft Data Migrator 2006 for Lotus Domino, and Windows SharePoint Services Application Templates. The company would also be making available updated messaging and calendaring migration tools for free. These tools are Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes/Domino, Exchange Calendar Connector for Lotus Notes/Domino, and Migration Wizard for Lotus Notes/Domino.
Market experts believe that a lot of Lotus Notes users are not moving to solutions provided by Microsoft and other companies because there is a shortage of such migration tools. Microsoft as a result is now better equipped to lure in more customers for their Exchange collaboration system. The company is also working on providing more tools in the future to make it easier for corporations to migrate from Lotus Notes platform to their products.
