Facebook gains control of Facebook.ir

Facebook continues to expand their presence worldwide. The social networking giant has just won rights to Facebook.ir domain name.

Facebook.ir was previously owned by an individual named Majid Karimian who claimed to be using the domain to sell books.

Interestingly, it was a UN body that helped Facebook gaining control of the domain from the man who was probably looking for financial gain by owning that domain.

Karimian lost the case of ownership of the domain with the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Facebook has already launched the Persian language version of the service. They might localize the site even more on this domain.
