AVG users had temporary issues with Apple iTunes
AVG has a free antivirus product which is used by millions of computer users around the world.
The company confirmed that one of the recent updates released for AVG had a problem which labelled Apple iTunes files as a Trojan named Small.BOG.
The users were then instructed to quarantine the file to prevent any damage to the system.
This step would mess up with the installed Apple iTunes application.
AVG responded by saying that they released another update pretty quickly which fixed the problem.
Users who had quarantined the files have the option to restore them from within the application. That should fix issues with Apple iTunes.
AVG said: “Unfortunately, a recent virus database update resulted in iTunes being detected as a Trojan by AVG security products. We can confirm that it was a false alarm. AVG immediately released a new virus database update (definition file 270.13.29/2260) that corrected this issue.”
