Mozilla launches Firefox Add-ons Contributions Pilot program

Mozilla has announced the launch of their Firefox Add-ons Contributions Pilot program.

This program is designed to enable developers to get financial support from the users of their add-ons designed for Firefox web browser.

Mozilla has developed this program to allow developers to tell their stories on the About the Developer pages provided on their website.

Contributions would be voluntary and users would get enough time to check out the add-ons before deciding to donate to the developer.

Mozilla is working with PayPal for this program which would provide the payment gateway for the donations.

Mozilla adds: At Mozilla, we use the word “Contributor” for community members who contribute time and energy to our mission of promoting choice and innovation on the Internet. Our goal is that users who contribute money to developers are supporting the future of a particular add-on, as opposed to donating for something already received.
