Apple iTunes 8.2.1 kills Palm Pre support
Apple has finally done what market analysts had expected it to do. They have killed the support offered by Palm for their Pre smartphone in iTunes.
Apple has released Apple iTunes 8.2.1.
This update comes with some security fixes other than the above mentioned ‘fix’.
Apple said in a statement on this updated version: “iTunes 8.2.1 is a free software update that provides a number of important bug fixes. It also disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre. As we’ve said before, newer versions of iTunes may no longer provide syncing functionality with unsupported digital media players.”
Users who still like the connectivity between Palm Pre and Apple iTunes can avoid updating to this release. Apple might make it compulsory for users to update in the future. But for the time being, the older version should work fine for Pre owners.
They can also look at other alternatives like Salling Media Sync.
