Valaiyodi: A Tamil Web Browser

In a step, which might help boosting the popularity of internet in the regional areas of South Indian states, a Chennai based company has launched a free web browser in Tamil language. The software application is called Valaiyodi and Panacea Dream Weavers Software Private Limited has developed it.

The company has plans to distribute this application for free and they claim that the browser is capable of translating English data in web sites into Tamil. However, one of the primary developers of this application, R. Duraipandian has warned that the application won’t be perfect in translating the content to Tamil. However, they are working hard on improving this process.

The developers have also said that they believe in the power of free software and open source technologies. As a result, they are going to make available this browser for free. They are aiming to extend its availability to every nook and corner of the country at an affordable cost and in the local language.

The CD being distributed by the company also includes other helpful applications like:
Tamil Word Processor: R4U
Tamil Documentation Software: Valluvan
Tamil To Tamil Dictionary: Pulavan
English To Tamil Dictionary: Paalam
Tamil Text Editor: Tamil Olai
Compilation Of 250 Different Tamil Fonts: Pathippu
Tamil Address Book: Mugavari
Accounting Software For Businessmen: Selvam
Management Software For Self-Help Groups: Sangam Pro
