Google Chrome OS means Android is not suitable for netbooks?
Google recently announced their latest ambitious project named Google Chrome OS.
Google Chrome OS is essentially a Linux powered operating system with a browser based user interface.
The company aims to out with the first public release sometime later this year.
With this, Google is now involved in two operating system projects. They already have the Android platform for mobile devices.
And now, they have an operating system project aimed at netbooks (for the time being).
It is however surprising that the company did not work on improving their Android product for larger screen devices.
Some developers have successfully managed to run Android on netbooks. Industry sources have claimed that at least few of the PC manufacturers are considering launch Android powered low cost netbooks in the market.
Google Chrome OS might be a sign that Google does not see Android as the OS for computers. The company stated in their blog post:
“Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the Web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems.”
