Facebook could be making a billion dollars in revenues a year!

Mark Andreessen is one of the members of the Facebook board. He has surprised market experts by claiming that the popular social networking service could generate revenues of around a billion dollars in the next couple of years.

He said that Facebook could even touch the milestone in the current year if they can push harder on selling advertisements.

He said: “This calendar year they’ll do over $500 million. If they pushed the throttle forward on monetization they would be doing more than a billion this year.”

Andreessen admitted that the network has to also make sure that they do not lose too many members in the process of promoting brands on the network.

He gave the example of MySpace which became too commercial after it was acquired by News Corp. It was the web’s largest social network but it is now trailing Facebook in that department.
