Cisco might launch a web based Microsoft Office competitor
Cisco Systems might become the latest player to enter the highly competitive office productivity office suite solutions.
The company might launch a web based office suite solution similar to Google Docs.
Cisco Senior Vice President Doug Dennerline said that they are considering plans to offer a service that would allow their customers to create documents that can be shared through their WebEx meeting and collaboration service.
Microsoft Office remains one of the most profitable products for the software giant. But it faces attack from several sides.
OpenOffice, StarOffice and Lotus Symphony are desktop based solutions. While Google, Adobe and Zoho provides web based alternatives.
Dennerline said: “That is an interesting space. We are certainly thinking about that.”
