Windows 7 Beta would start rebooting every two hours from today

Microsoft has announced that the day has arrived when Windows 7 Beta installations around the world would begin rebooting every two hours.

The beta edition of Windows 7 was launched quite some time ago. The company has already released the release candidate version.

The gold edition is scheduled to arrive later this year.

Microsoft is warning that the rebooting would happen without any warning so anyone currently on the beta version should either switch to the RC edition of Windows 7 or any of the previous Windows OS like Vista.

Windows 7 Beta would continue to work till August 1. It would just stop operating after that.

Windows 7 RC is going to last for a bit longer so that is a safe bet for users who just cannot move back to Vista after using any of these test editions. It would be functional till June next year. The auto reboot headache would begin in March 2010.
