Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 final is out

Open Source foundation Mozilla has finally released the final version of their free email client Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird is now in version 1.5. This update brings better security and usability features to the email client, which has become very popular around the world as an alternative for Microsoft Outlook Express.

This final Thunderbird 1.5 release comes six weeks after Mozilla launched the final of Mozilla Firefox 1.5. Some of the new features in Thunderbird are carried over from Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Thunderbird would now also automatically update itself if so desired by the user. It would also keep track of installed extensions and themes for updates. This feature was introduced in Mozilla Firefox 1.5.

This auto update feature would help the users stay up-to-date and Mozilla won’t have to worry about users stuck with insecure versions of their applications. In addition, the update also means that Thunderbird can also now handle podcasts and has improved general support for RSS. Another useful feature is for users to delete useless attachments from mails they want to keep on their computer.
