Joost in trouble
Joost was a hot online property at one point of time. It was pretty close to revolutionizing video on the web.
However, it was not to be. YouTube won the video on the web war and Joost had to discard its application model to go web only. Hulu is also another major rival.
The company is again in news for all the wrong reasons.
They are now cutting jobs in addition to customer service support. Joost is also losing their high profile CEO Mike Volpi.
Volpi would however continue to remain connected to the company as its chairman.
He said about the new developments: “In these tough economic times, it’s been increasingly challenging to operate as an independent, ad-supported online video platform.”
Joost is not disappearing as of now considering they have existing programming deals with major networks including CBS, Viacom and Warner Bros.
