Google Talk and Google Local comes to Blackberry
The maker of the very popular Blackberry PDAs Research in Motion has announced that they are now supporting Google Talk and Google Local on their products. In addition, owners of Blackberry devices would also be able to check out Google Maps on their PDAs. Google Talk is an open source technology based instant messenger and Google Local helps in searching for businesses in a particular area.
The support for Google Talk on Blackberry devices would be available by spring this year. However, customers of RIM can already download an application to make available Google Local for mobile on their devices. This tool would let them view maps and satellite imagery, find local businesses, and get driving directions on their Blackberry handsets.
The support for Google Talk would also be provided for free when it is made available. Deep Nishar, Google’s product management director said in a statement on this added support on Blackberry devices: “As mobile technology continues to converge, consumers are becoming increasingly more connected and require access to information at home, at work, and on the road.â€
