Twitpic hacked: Britney Spears, Ellen DeGeneres accounts were compromised

Twitpic has confirmed that their service was hacked and some high profile accounts were compromised as a result.

The service is not connected to Twitter but it provides services to Twitter users enabling them to upload and share photos on the popular micro-blogging network.

Twitpic said that the hackers managed to utilize a “vulnerability” in the mobile posting system.

They shut down parts of their services to fix the problem.

The hacking attempt led to compromise of some celebrity accounts including those of Britney Spears, and Ellen DeGeneres.
