Microsoft Security Essentials beta launch pretty successful

Microsoft has claimed that the beta launch of their upcoming free antivirus application Microsoft Security Essentials has been pretty successful.

It was launched in limited regions earlier this week.

They have already reached the U.S. limit on downloads for this application which would be publicly launched worldwide later this year.

Microsoft Security Essentials website had this message for visitors: “Thank you for your interest in joining the Microsoft Security Essentials Beta. We are not accepting additional participants at this time. Please check back at a later date for possible additional availability.”

Microsoft had planned to make available 75,000 downloads for users in the U.S., Israel and Brazil.

The company is already scheduled to discontinue sales of their Live OneCare product at the end of the current month.
