Microsoft announces Windows 7 pricing details
US based software giant Microsoft has finally revealed the pricing details of their upcoming Windows 7 operating system.
The company said that the pricing of Windows 7 is pretty similar to that of their current Windows Vista operating system.
Customers going for Vista powered machines from tomorrow would get free upgrades to Windows 7.
The company is also now taking limited pre-orders for Windows 7 upgrade versions. The cheapest version starts at just USD 50.
Upgrade from Vista and XP pricing:
Windows 7 Home Premium: USD 120
Windows 7 Professional: USD 200
Windows 7 Ultimate: USD 220
New copies:
Windows 7 Home Premium: USD 200
Windows 7 Professional: USD 300
Windows 7 Ultimate: USD 320
This pricing structure is a major disappointment considering Apple is offering upgrades to Mac OS X Snow Leopard for just around USD 30.
