Microsoft releases two patches on January Patch Tuesday
Just days after Microsoft had to launch an emergency patch release for the infamous WMF image file rendering; the company has released two more patches on their scheduled Patch Tuesday this month. These patches carry its maximum rating of critical and these are aimed to fix issues serious enough to allow an attacker to take control of another person’s computer.
The company has confirmed that one patch is to fix a flaw in Windows desktop and server software that could let an attacker gain control of an Internet-connected computer if a user were tricked into visiting a malicious Web site. Interestingly, the patch fixes an issue, which dates back to the days of their Windows 2000 operating system.
The second patch is related to their Microsoft’s Office business software and Exchange Server software. This fix would let the users change and manage language preferences. This fix is also applicable to their versions dating back to MS Office 2000 days. The company is now slated to launch the latest version of MS Office 12 later this year.
