IBM releases Lotus Symphony 1.3

US based tech giant IBM has finally released an updated edition of their Lotus Symphony office suite.

The new version comes with support for the Microsoft Office 2007 file formats.

IBM said that with support for the latest MS Office documents, Symphony is now a capable enough product for any company looking to cut costs.

IBM offers Lotus Symphony as a free download.

The latest version also has some other new features including the ability to drag-and-drop plug-ins.

Users also can export the files of MS Office 2007 format to other formats like ODF and Adobe PDF.

We have used Symphony in the past but found it to be horribly slow even when compared to OpenOffice.

Our personal recommendation as an alternative office productivity suite remains OpenOffice.
