Yahoo Gallery also shutting down
Yahoo continues to come out with more bad news for their users.
The latest is that they are now closing down yet another of their service named Yahoo Gallery.
Yahoo Gallery is not even out of Beta yet and it is already scheduled to shut down next month.
Yahoo said in a message delivered to the users:
After careful consideration, we have decided to close the Yahoo! Gallery beta service. Although the Gallery gained a core of loyal users who enjoyed the service, Yahoo! has been reprioritizing some products to help us deliver the best possible experiences to consumers and developers. The decision to close the gallery is part of this larger strategy and will allow us to focus on helping our customers develop engaging applications using Yahoo! technologies.
Yahoo has in the past couple of weeks closed down following services:
Yahoo Geocities
Yahoo 360
Yahoo Jumpcut
We are just afraid that one fine day, they would announce the closure of Flickr. The only Yahoo service we use. And we pay for it!

I’d think the bigger risk is that they’d sell Flckr off to someone like Microsoft.

Yahoo’s shuttering of services reminds me of a patient on his deathbed whose organs are shutting down.
What’s next? E-mail? Is Yahoo in bigger trouble than they are letting on? I can’t imagine them giving the shaft to millions of users over all these closures if things weren’t really bad. It’s just too bad they don’t sell these services rather than leaving gaping holes in the internet, destroying data, and angering the public.
